As of now, the
NAPBS Annual Conference in Orlando is going ahead. That is welcome news for those of us scheduled to travel to the conference. Though Florida suffered lighter damage from Hurricane Irma than expected, the cost both monetary and emotional are still quite high. Taken together with Hurricane Harvey’s devastation in Houston and the Gulf Coast, our friends and neighbors in the South and Southeast have had quite a few weeks. Beyond the shifting patterns of the storm itself, one of the factors that mitigated Irma’s impact was emergency preparedness at all levels. As I’ve written before, businesses, regardless of geographical location, need emergency preparedness and recovery plans. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers many
emergency preparedness resources for businesses. I urge all my colleagues to familiarize themselves with the latest recommendations. In the meantime, consider donating to the
American Red Cross or to a similar relief effort.
Prissy Hamilton, Our new Director of Client Services, and I look forward to reconnecting with everyone at the NAPBS Annual Conference in Orlando next week. Please email me if you would like to set up a specific meeting time.
